THE Royal Family and Huddersfield Giants are set to join forces tomorrow at a church wedding fair.
St Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, will host a wedding fayre and fashion show featuring two top rugby players.
And they’ve got the backing of the Royal Family, who have loaned the church a gift presented to the Queen and Prince Philip to mark their golden wedding, which will be on display.
Huddersfield Giants winger Leroy Cudjoe will take to the stage for the fashion show alongside Leeds Rhinos player Danny Bravo.
Church member Joyce Pogson said: “What began as a simple idea to promote marriage, the church and family life has won the support of the Queen and attracted some of the top names from the world of rugby.
“I wrote to The Queen as head of the Church of England asking if we could use her wedding dress as part of the collection.
“I received a response from her Director of the Royal Collection, who explained that it was too fragile, but the following day we were really excited when a package arrived from St James’s Palace with the book Five Gold Rings – published to celebrate the Queen and Prince Philip’s golden wedding – and a letter of support and best wishes for the fair from the Palace.”
Joyce and her sister Valerie France are also thrilled that Leroy and Danny, who lives in Huddersfield, are backing them by taking to the stage for a fashion show.
The event takes place from 11am until 4pm tomorrow, with the fashion shows at midday and 3pm.
Entry is free and all are welcome.
