Masked robbers armed themselves with a handgun and hammer before threatening a man in his home.

The terrifying robbery unfolded at 9.45pm last night when the two suspects entered the victim’s house.

The suspects then ordered the victim, a man in his 40s, to hand over his phone and wallet.

The pair fled the scene and the victim phoned police. He was shaken but uninjured.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area around Queen Street, Ravensthorpe, to reassure the public but have indicated this was a targeted attack.

Det Con Andy Clayton, of Kirklees Robbery Team, said: “We are treating this as a targeted attack and there is no suggestion of any wider risk to the local community in Ravensthorpe.

“However any incident of this nature is taken extremely seriously and we have been making a number of enquiries in the area to try and identify the two men involved.”

The first man is described as white, between 5ft 5ins to 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, wearing a hooded top, plastic mask or brown insulation tape across his face and gloves.

The second man is described as white, aged in his mid to late 20s, between 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, with blond hair. He was wearing a grey and black hooded top and had a tattoo on his right forearm which is described as being ‘old English letters’.

Det Con Clayton added: “Anyone who was in the area who saw anyone acting suspiciously, such as putting on a facial covering or running away from the scene, is asked to call the Kirklees Robbery Team on 101.

“Information can also be given anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
