Masked men broke into a former club and pub in Newsome.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the attempted robbery at the former Newsome Tap and Newsome WMC on St John’s Avenue, Newsome.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning, at around 12.30am when two males forced their way into the property.

They were then disturbed and fled the club empty handed.

Officers want to speak to two men in connection with the incident.

The first is described as aged in his early 20s, white and tanned, 6ft tall, and of slim build. He had short cropped hair and a blue coloured scarf tied around the lower part of his face. He was wearing a light blue sweatshirt.

The second male is described as between 5ft “10 to 6ft tall, aged 20 to 25 and wearing a black hooded top with a scarf covering his face. He was either mixed race or light skinned.

A small white car was possibly involved in the incident.
