MASKED thugs robbed a Huddersfield shopkeeper.

The pair also stopped a frightened customer from leaving the shop during the hold-up.

Now detectives in Huddersfield are appealing for witnesses to the robbery at a convenience store at Nabcroft Rise, Crosland Moor.

The robbers struck at 8.50pm on Thursday night. The two men entered the shop and threatened a member of staff who handed over a quantity of cash.

The shop worker, a local man, was not injured during the robbery.

Detectives would like to trace the customer who was stopped from leaving the store by the two men and would urge him to come forward.

The suspects are described as black and had their faces covered.

One was wearing a black coloured jacket and blue coloured jeans. The other was wearing a cream coloured hooded top.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may be able to identify the suspects or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously near the shop.

As part of the investigation officers are viewing CCTV as well as making enquiries to identify the suspects.

Det Con Craig Foulkes, from Huddersfield CID, said: “As part of the investigation I would really like to speak with the man who was in shopping in the store at the time and would urge him to contact me.

“People should be able to carry out their work without the threat of violence which is why it is important we identify these two suspects.

“If you have any information which may assist the enquiry please come forward.”

Either the unidentified customer or anyone with information is asked to contact Huddersfield CID on 01484 436556 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
