A CONSULTANT is to devise a master plan for the future of two Colne Valley villages.
Slaithwaite and Marsden are in the Renaissance Market Towns programme, run by the Yorkshire Forward development agency.
The agency has appointed consultant Judith Atkinson to come up with a plan for developing both areas.
She will work with Kirklees Council to find out what projects are already taking place.
She will also work alongside `town teams', made up of members of the community, local businesses and voluntary groups.
These teams will pass on information about what Slaithwaite and Marsden people want.
Yorkshire Forward spokeswoman Janice Crich said: "A consultant from outside the area will see things differently and have a fresh eye. It helps to have this, as well as the views of the town team."
The consultation process could take between six and 12 months.
The master plan will be broken down into different projects, some short-term and others long-term.
Ms Atkinson works for Leeds property developers GVA Grimleys.
