Meet Henry the blind and deaf puppy who is completely unaware of his disability.

Tiny 13-month-old Cavapoo Henry can only make out dark shadows and is cut off from the outside world, but that hasn’t put a downer on his feisty personality.

Dante Harker, from Huddersfield-based West Yorkshire Dog Rescue, said: “He doesn’t realise how different he is – he just thinks that’s how all dogs are.”

Now the pooch, seen playing with best friend Kain the dog in the video above, is hoping for a new home for Christmas with a family who can look past his disability.

Henry was taken into care after his owner became too ill to care for him.

He is currently being temporarily looked after by a foster carer in Barnsley until he is rehomed.

Dante said: “Henry was in the care of a dog breeder who had decided to keep him on.

“No one knew he was blind and deaf until he underwent a routine vet’s check after he came into our care.

“The vet said he had never seen anything like it.

“His eye structure is different to any other dog’s he had seen.”

The rescue said that although it is not uncommon for older dogs to go blind and deaf, it is extremely rare for dogs to be born that way.

Dante added: “It hasn’t seemed to stop him.

“He’s a very sweet little dog and gets on with all the others. He has bags of personality.”

The rescue said: “He doesn’t know he is disabled he runs about at high speed everywhere and finds life great fun.

“A lesson for us all I think.”

Dante added: “Henry would love a new home in time for Christmas.

No dog should be alone at Christmas, but Henry needs a special family who can meet all his needs.”
