Reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother features a man who lives in Huddersfield.
Austin Armacost entered the CBB house last night – and was roundly booed when he complained about life in England.
Austin, who previously told the Examiner he now calls Huddersfield home, is a former model and once dated fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
He was among the 12 new housemates to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house for the new UK vs USA theme. His housemates are the X-Factor's Chloe Jasmine Whichello and Stevi Ritchie; actor Chris Ellison; TV presenter Gail Porter; James Hill who appeared on The Apprentice; singer Natasha Hamilton; Loose Woman presenter Sherrie Hewson.
Plus American celebrities on the show are actor Daniel Baldwin; reality TV's Farrah Abraham; musician Fatman Scoop, aka Isaac Freeman III; porn stars Jenna Jameson and Tila Tequila.
Austin said: “I’m a fan of the show. I’ve been living in England for five years so I’ve been watching. It just seems like a fascinating experiment to put all these personalities together.
“I have a huge advantage from living in the UK! Not only am I going to get on better with the British Housemates, but I know what the public love and hate having lived here for half a decade. Especially up in Yorkshire, they are some of the best people I have met in the world.”
Austin met his husband Jake Lees, a former hospitality management student from the University of Huddersfield who was on a work placement in Indianapolis.
He moved to Huddersfield in August 2009 and lived at Jake’s parents’ house in Bolster Moor for a time.
