A SPECIAL minibus service for Mirfield will be discussed at a public meeting.

Kirklees Council’s Mirfield Area Committee will consider the proposed new Metro Local transport service on November 26.

This is a minibus service aimed at improving access to local services for less-mobile people.

It aims to fill gaps in public transport for people going directly to GPs, community centres and shops.

The meeting will also discuss local bus and rail services and will involve representatives of public transport co-ordinator Metro and bus firms.

Committee chairman Clr Vivien Lees said: “I would urge Mirfield people to attend.

“We need your input to help identify areas and times where there is a shortfall in public transport if we are to consider the scheme’s potential benefits.’’

The meeting is at the Salvation Army HQ on Huddersfield Road, starting at 7.30pm.
