Flytippers have dumped a load of tyres at a Meltham beauty spot.

The old, worn tyres have been scattered along a lane close to the Wills o’Nats pub.

Now Kirklees Council is to clear up the rubbish having been contacted by local residents.

One of them, Ryan Taylor, said: “I live in Meltham, but work in Slaithwaite. When the weather permits I enjoys walking the commute to work and back with my dogs.

“However on the lane between the Wills O’Nats pub and Holt Head Road, Blackmoorfoot I was confronted with a mound of tyres just dumped in the middle of the lane. There must have been at least 20 of them.

“Unfortunately this isn’t a one off and seems to becoming a common occurrence. I feel attention should be brought to this matter as its not just ruining the brilliant walks we have around Huddersfield there is also the environmental damage being caused by the dumping of rubbish”

Kirklees Council revealed last month that they receive about 250 calls about flytipped rubbish each month.

In April this year a huge pile of rubbish was dumped on the A640 at Scammonden.

That came just ten days after 21 fridges were dumped on Wessenden Moor near Marsden.
