A congregation has thanked the community for their efforts in supporting a church clock tower restoration project in Meltham.

St Bartholomew’s Church in Meltham launched an appeal 18 months ago to restore the church clock which is a prominent feature of the village.

And to celebrate its restoration, which is almost complete, a weekend of celebrations was held to add the remaining funds to the pot.

Honley Male Voice Choir hosted a Sing a Ding concert on Friday with all proceeds to the appeal. On Saturday vicar, the Rev Maureen Read, hosted a wine and nibbles celebration at the church to thank all those who have contributed to the fundraising efforts.

The church clock is now keeping time but the chiming mechanism will not be working until next month.
