A MARTIAL arts club came up with a novel way to raise money for charity – a three-legged walk!

The Dale Valley Taekwando club arranged the eight-mile walk to raise money for World Vision.

They will also be splitting the money with a group of students from Huddersfield University who will be heading to Nepal next year to build schools, a challenge that doesn’t come cheap.

The walk started in Scissett, then went through Bretton Hall Park, Shelley and Emley before finishing back in Scissett.

Unfortunately the group had to do the three- legged walk as it poured with rain.

Steven Hoyle, co-owner of the club, said: “We organise a sponsored event each year to raise money for various charities.

“This year we came up with the idea of a three- legged walk.

“We thought it would be fun and it definitely brings something different to a walk!”

Thirty people took part, including some members of the Northern Taekwando Association.

All 30 were dressed in their taekwando outfits. The group raised about £700, which will be split equally between the two causes.
