POLICE arrested two men who were spotted on a mill roof near Huddersfield town centre.

The pair were seen on the derelict Folly Hall Mills, off Chapel Hill, just before noon yesterday.

The Huddersfield men, aged 29 and 45, were detained on suspicion of stealing lead.

Both were charged with theft and bailed to appear in court later.

The mill is owned by the Mandale Group, based in Stockton-on- Tees in Cleveland.

It has applied for planning permission to convert the mill into 85 apartments with a leisure club or complex on the ground floors.

The six-storey grade two listed mill was built in 1844 and closed in 1982.
