PUNDIT Mike “Stevo” Stephenson is helping a charity for ex-soldiers.

The Sky Sports rugby summariser will be guest speaker at a dinner organised by the Mayor of Kirklees in aid of Combat Stress – his chosen charity for his year in office.

The charity helps former soldiers cope with mental health problems.

An Evening with Stevo takes place at Gomersal Park Hotel on Thursday, April 14, from 7pm.

The event has been organised by the Mayor of Kirklees Clr Andrew Palfreeman.

He said: “I’m delighted that Stevo has very generously offered his time and a great evening should be guaranteed.”

The Birstall and Birkenshaw Conservative added: “Combat Stress is a cause very dear to my heart.

“I firmly believe that if our servicemen and women are prepared to risk their lives on our behalf, we have a duty to make sure they and their families are supported when they face problems.”

Tickets for the evening, which include a three-course dinner, are available for £29.95 by calling 01274 869386.
