YOUNGSTERS enjoyed Easter with steam train rides on the miniature railway at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield.

The train will continue to run every weekend, weather permitting, until Saturday, December 23.

There will be additional weekday runs during the schools' six-week summer break, as well as a Hallowe'en special in October, a Pudsey Bear weekend in November and Santa specials throughout December.

The miniature railway, operated by the Huddersfield Society of Model Engineers, was opened by Fred Dibnah in August 2002.

It is a multi-gauge track - 5in and 7¼in - approximately 500 yards in length.

The main engines in use are Syngenta and Walrus, both bought with grants from various organisations, together with Golden Jubilee, which was presented by Holset to mark the engineering firm's golden jubilee.

Other locomotives are owned and run by society members.
