A METHODIST minister is running the London Marathon for two charities.

Mother-of-four Paula Bee will tackle the capital's gruelling race to raise at least £3,000 for the homeless charity Shelter and the Almondbury Community Centre improvement project.

Paula, 43, who is the minister for Almondbury and Shelley Methodist churches, said: "I have never done anything like this before and the furthest I have run so far is just 13 miles, but I will walk, crawl or creep over that finishing line!

"Being a minister and a mother of four is very demanding and it can be difficult to find the spare time I need for the essential training, but I am determined to succeed and help raise funds for these two most worthy causes."

The Almondbury Community Centre project will upgrade the church hall which is already used for amateur dramatics and by groups for the elderly.

The aim is to upgrade the toilets, fit a new kitchen, improve access and put in a partition system so many groups can use the building.
