Mirfield-born showbiz writer and broadcaster Neil Sean is bringing a special one-off show to his hometown on Friday (September 26).

An Audience with Neil Sean is a free show being held at Old Bank Club in Old Bank Road from 7.30pm.

Neil, whose mother Ann Montini – also a showbiz writer – still lives in the town, is often referred to as the “Showbiz Oracle.”

Neil rubs shoulders with the stars and there are very few parties he doesn’t get invited to.

What many people don’t know is that Neil has an amazing voice thanks to training from his opera singing mother and performed at hundreds of clubs between the ages of 11 and 18.

He had roles in several West End shows and while working on stage musical Copacabana he was recommended by Barry Manilow to record producer Pete Waterman. As a result Neil was a ‘ghost singer’ on many Stock Aitken and Waterman hits.

Neil made his first stage appearance in Mirfield in Variety Express at Battyeford Methodist Hall aged eight and is looking forward to returning.

“It’s going to be a magical night with music, memories and comedy,” he said. “I have so many great stories to share and above all it’s happening right back in Mirfield where it all started.”

Neil would love to meet some of his former teachers from Mirfield High School on the night.
