HIS life has been transformed.

And now Liam Pogson is helping other people overcome their life-long stammers – just like he did.

The 19-year-old from Mirfield joined family friend Tony Corner, to raise £524 through a 10-mile sponsored run from Mirfield to Leeds.

Liam, a former pupil of Mirfield Free Grammar School, will donate the money the pair raised to the McGuire Programme.

The training programme helped Liam to overcome his stammer and now he wants the money to go to others who can’t afford to go on the course.

Liam has also given a public speech at the Thirsty Man pub in Mirfield to raise awareness of stammers and the treatment that is available.

The teenager, who plays for Carson Builders Cricket Club in Golcar, said: “I hope I have raised awareness to help anyone with an out-of-control stammer and to let them know there is light at the end of the tunnel – Šthey are not on their own and they can achieve whatever goals in life they wish.”
