PARENTS have received advice from their neighbourhood policing team as part of road safety week.

Fire crews also came along to Thornhill Lees Infant School to educate both parents and children about keeping safe on the roads.

PCSO Heather Chester from Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT said: “Education around road safety is enormously important, not just to children but also to adults.

“A lapse of concentration while crossing a road or while behind the wheel of a vehicle can easily lead to tragedy.

“That is why we are holding educational talks, stories and quizzes for children to raise awareness of the importance of road safety.”

A driving simulator was also organised to raise awareness amongst adults.
