A MUM is organising a charity event in honour of her serviceman son.

Mirfield’s Lance Cpl William Langton, section commander of an infantry company, is preparing for a tour of duty in Afghanistan later this year with the Queen’s Royal Hussars.

It comes two years after the 20-year-old former Castle Hall School pupil became one of the youngest to serve in Iraq.

His mum, Nikki Demirhan, 46, said: “It was one of the most difficult, traumatic times I’ve been through. I had all sorts of horrible dreams.

“This time I wanted to do something to keep my mind busy.”

She has organised a charity buffet, auction and raffle at Headingley Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos, for Help for Heroes on March 26.

Tickets are £20. Email helpforheros1@hotmail.co.uk
