ACTOR Sir Ian McKellen is to marry Sir Patrick Stewart.
Sir Ian will officiate at the wedding of his Mirfield-born X-Men co-star when he weds girlfriend Sunny Ozell.
He told The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday: “Yes, I’m going to marry Patrick,” McKellen said.
“Well, no. How else do you put that? I am going to officiate at this wedding.”
Asked how he could do it, Sir Ian replied: “I don’t know, in Massachusetts, no, somewhere in the middle of America, I read out a few words and Sunny and Patrick will then be married.”
It’s not the first time Sir Ian has presided over nuptials – he married two men in a civil partnership in London.
The two Sirs appear in the X-Men films together, Sir Ian as Magneto and Sir Patrick as Professor X.
Sir Patrick, who is Huddersfield University chancellor, aged 72, will wed jazz singer Sunny Ozell, 35, later this year.
The couple met in 2009, the same year the two actors appeared together in Waiting for Godot.
Sir Patrick had previously worked only once alongside Sir Ian on stage, but the pair appear in the X-Men films.
Both Sir Ian and Sir Patrick are set to return for X-Men: Days of Future Past, an upcoming prequel.
