Detectives have told the Examiner that locating missing William Dunk is their ‘top priority’.

Huddersfield CID is leading the specialist missing person enquiry following the disappearance of Mr Dunk. 74, yesterday morning from his home in Denby Dale.

Mr Dunk is a ‘high risk’ missing person and takes medication so it is imperative that he is located.

He was last seen between 11am and 12.15pm yesterday lunch time having left his house in Pingle Rise at around 10.30am.

A task force to locate Mr Dunk was set up and teams have been searching throughout the night.

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter was also drafted in to help the search.

Det Insp Stephanie Wiseman of Huddersfield CID said: “Mr Dunk has been missing for over 24 hours and was last seen in the Denby Dale area.

“Uniformed officers and detectives on the ground are searching for him, assisted by the police helicopter.

“Today we have asked for the assistance of Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team who are now also out in the area.

“We are also keeping his family informed.

“Locating Mr Dunk is our top priority.”

Mr Dunk is described as of medium build, 5ft 3in tall and was wearing light blue jeans, a red fleece jacket and flat cap.

He has distinctive tattoos of ‘Scots’ and ‘land’ on his knuckles and the name ‘Catherine’ on his shoulder. He also has other tattoos on his arms.
