A vulnerable elderly man has gone missing from his Denby Dale home.

Detectives are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of a 74-year-old man who has been missing for over 24 hours.

William Magee Dunk was last seen at his home address in Pingle Rise, Denby Dale at 10.30am yesterday but was not reported missing for several hours.

Det Insp Andy Parr, of Huddersfield CID said: “We are treating Mr Dunk’s disappearance as a high risk missing person and have set up a specialist operations team to trace his whereabouts.

“The police helicopter has joined the search this morning.

“Mr Dunk is vulnerable and takes medication and has been missing for over 24 hours now.

“His wife and family are desperate for his safe return and we would urge anyone who recognises a man matching this description to contact police immediately on 101.”

Mr Dunk is described as of medium build, 5ft 3 tall and was wearing light blue jeans, a red fleece jacket and flat cap.

He has distinctive tattoos of ‘Scots’ and ‘land’ on his knuckles and the name ‘Catherine’ on his shoulder. He also has other tattoos on his arms.
