Huddersfield University student Gloria Maina has been found safe and well following her sudden disappearance.

The 19-year-old Newsome resident went missing for almost two days after she vanished shortly after she left the university's Queensgate campus on Friday.

Her disappearance prompted a region-wide search by police and social media users, who shared the appeal to help find her thousands of times.

She was found in Lancashire overnight, around 40 hours after she was last seen on Queensgate at around 11.30am on Friday.

West Yorkshire Police thanked the public and the media for their help in sharing the appeal for sightings.

One of her friends, Kathryn Allinson, who posted the appeal on her Facebook page, said: "We are relieved and happy of this news. Thank you for your support"
