A GOLCAR mother spoke of her relief today after her missing son phoned home.
Rose Butler had begun to fear her 37-year-old son, Jason, was dead after he vanished four months ago.
But after the Examiner featured her fears he contacted her hours later.
Jason left his home in Cedar Close on September 8 last year after he was offered a week's work with a tarmac gang.
He said he would be home by the end of the week, but never returned and nothing more was heard from him.
His 72-year-old mother's anguish worsened over the months.
It was out of character for Jason to disappear and he had also left his four-month-old puppy behind.
But someone who read her appeal for help to find him in Friday's Examiner got a message to Jason and he phoned home that evening.
Rose said: "He is in Northampton and said he had been very busy. He has promised to write a letter very soon.
"It's just such a relief to know he's safe and well.
"Myself and the rest of his family had been fearing the worst."
