HEART-THROB Gavin Ellis certainly got more than he bargained for from his appearance on TV.

Moldgreen singer-songwriter Gavin – a former X-Factor contestant – decided to apply for ITV dating show Take Me Out to promote his showbiz career.

But Gavin, 26, a personal trainer by day, found himself bowled over by sexy mum-of-two Gemma Gordon.

Instead of a boost to his bid for fame Gavin found love and yesterday told the Examiner: “She might be The One!”

Gavin, lead singer with 80s-style rock band Vanguard, said: “I thought I might get on TV and do 30 seconds of singing and someone might take notice.

“I never thought for a minute about meeting someone. It was just a bit of a laugh.

“Like they say, love comes when you least expect it!”

The couple featured on Take Me Out last week but the show was filmed back in November, and they have been almost inseparable ever since.

Gavin performed the Guns N Roses hit Paradise City in big wig and wacky shoes and had the pick of the girls. But he only had eyes for Gemma, 25.

“She caught my eye straightaway,” he said. “I thought she was beautiful. She had a big smile, big beautiful eyes and laughed a lot.

“She was just my type and I knew I was going to pick her there and then.”

Fortunately Gemma felt the same and ended up having to complete 30 press-ups with a love rival to win a date with Gavin, who reached X-Factor’s Boot Camp in 2009.

It was a no contest and the couple jetted off to the Isle of Fernando’s for a dream date.

Even then the course of true love didn’t run smoothly.

By the time of the date Gemma, who has two daughters Grace, six, and Olivia, three, had spent two weeks away from her Chorley home filming the show.

She was really homesick and was in floods of tears, desperate to see her girls.

Eventually she was persuaded to go ahead with the date and turned up three hours late!

“Gav was brilliant,” said Gemma. “He serenaded me at the dinner table which was a bit cringey but lovely.

“We got on great and then we went for a night out and Gav had a bit to drink and told me he thought he was in love!”

The loved-up couple swapped numbers and have spoken every day since.

The relationship could have hit the buffers when Grace was taken ill and spent Christmas in hospital.

But Gavin was there for Gemma and supported her all the way.

“I’ve had a lot to deal with,” said Gemma. “But Gavin was really supportive.

“We see each other virtually every day. Hopefully the relationship can last.”

Former Shelley High School student Gavin, who works out of Thongsbridge Tennis Club, is definitely smitten.

“Everything is going brilliantly,” he grinned. “It just gets better and better.

“I just didn’t expect it at all. We just clicked. She could be The One.”

Gavin is now planning a romantic Valentine’s Day and said: “I am going to spoil her a bit. Gemma’s just wonderful.”
