MOLLY the donkey visited children for the start of Holy Week.

Girls from Marsden Rainbow group wore Easter bonnets and met Molly at Peel Street.

Afterwards they went into Marsden United Church for the Palm Sunday service.

The Rev Joanne Archer-Siddall said: “The children really loved Molly.

“Molly wanted to come into the church for the service, but we had to make her wait outside.”

The meeting with Molly was arranged to help teach the children about Christ’s journey into Jerusalem on a donkey.

The Rev Archer-Siddall said: “It’s about telling the story in a way that will help children remember the story.

“We’re also hoping to encourage families into the church and give them something special to remember.”
