MONTY the macaw has turned up safely - after a brief taste of freedom.

Tonya Delaney, of Choppards Farm, Holmfirth, offered a £500 reward for the return of her mum's 12-year- old pet after he unexpectedly took flight on Sunday.

Tonya is looking after the bird while mother Doreen Whiteley is on holiday.

Monty was found looking lost and forlorn by a worker at Washpit Mills yesterday, 500 yards from Tonya's home.

The man took Monty to a vet's, where he was reunited with Tonya.
