Huddersfield is at the centre of a storm passing over northern England this lunchtime.

As well as heavy rain, plenty of rolls of thunder have been reported this morning.

The Met Office have put in place a yellow warning for our region this afternoon.

A spokesman said: "Scattered but potentially intense thundery downpours are likely to develop from the middle of today onwards and drift north across the region.

"The public should be aware that where these occur, they could bring a risk of surface water flooding, with lightning, hail and gusty winds posing additional hazards locally.

"Drier conditions will follow from the southwest during the evening."

Lightning strikes were reported in the Holme Valley area.
