DETECTIVES investigating the shootings in Fartown over the weekend have now arrested seven people.

Four men were arrested yesterday to add to the three arrested on Sunday.

The arrests are part of the investigation into the incident on Bradford Road at 3.41pm on Saturday when neighbours reported hearing three shots fired.

Four men were found to be injured and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening  injuries.

Police confirmed three men aged 25, 26 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of  a firearm following the incident.

Four others, aged between 19 and 31, were arrested yesterday.

Police said this morning that a 25 and 26-year-old arrested have subsequently been released on bail.

Kirklees Magistrates yesterday issued a court order to allow further questioning of the men held in police custody

The scene outside Slick Cutz barber’s shop at the junction of Eleanor Street was still cordoned off yesterday morning as officers continued investigating the incident.

West Yorkshire’s Assistant Chief Constable Craig Guildford stressed that incidents like these are ‘extremely rare’ and urged any witnesses to come forward.

North Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team have assisted response officers in securing the scene and will continue high-visibility patrols to reassure the public.
