FREE off-peak bus travel for over-60s in West Yorkshire starts soon.

Pensioners and disabled people are to get such travel free from April 1.

They will be able to travel free all day Saturday and Sunday, on public holidays and after 9.30am Monday to Friday.

Off-peak train travel for these two passenger groups will cost 35p.

Metro - which co-ordinates West Yorkshire's public transport - has put out 1.2m flyers, 250,000 leaflets and hundreds of posters telling people of the changes.

Metro has also struck a deal with authorities in North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester to allow West Yorkshire senior citizens and disabled passengers to travel free at off-peak times.
