MORE help for Yorkshire families hit by last year’s floods has been welcomed.
MP Mary Creagh, whose Wakefield constituency includes several parts of Huddersfield, said it was good news.
Efforts to get families back home following the 2007 summer floods continue. But Floods Recovery Minister John Healey said there were still 350 families not back in their homes, including six in the Wakefield area.
Households were worst affected where drying out had taken the longest or where there were delays with insurance companies or builders.
Last year Mr Healey announced over £1m of Government funding for council tax discounts so families do not face bills for homes they cannot live in.
Yesterday, he said he was in touch with councils about what other support they could offer.
