As college staff prepare to move into their new £74m Huddersfield campus bosses are having to find places for them to park.

Kirklees College, which has 650 full and part-time employees, has applied to Kirklees Council to use land off Chapel Hill for temporary car parking.

The land previously provided 47 parking spaces.

A planning application shows Kirklees College is hoping to fit 52 cars on the land, three of them for disabled drivers.

It will be available from 7.30am to 9pm.

Access to the proposed parking will be from a newly-formed vehicular access, Ismuth Road, off Chapel Hill, to service the Waterfront Quarter development.

The application is open to public consultation until September 8.
