DOCTORS are carrying out more tests on a young Dalton boy seriously ill with meningitis.

Sam Field, five, is in the intensive care unit at Leeds General Infirmary.

He was rushed to hospital at the weekend and immediately transferred to the ICU with a strain of the bug.

Sam is the older brother of Dalton toddler Oliver Field, who is battling a form of cancer. The pair are pictured, left.

Ironically, Oliver, two, was in the same intensive care unit only days ago having undergone chemotherapy to tackle his neuroblastoma.

The boys’ parents, Paul and Laura, are at Sam’s bedside. Paul posted a comment on the couple’s Facebook site.

He said: “Sam suffered two seizures on Tuesday night which resulted in an emergency CT scan which unfortunately didn’t show anything we don’t already know.

“Hopefully some more MRI scans should show more.

“Although the seizures were scary at least he wasn’t alone as I was with him trying to reassure him.”
