MEMBERS of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have been planting and cleaning in Meltham.

A group from the church worked with Friends of the Meltham Greenway to plant hundreds of snowdrops and bluebells to give the recently off-road track a splash of colour.

Church members also tidied up the litter on a well-used public footpath off Mill Moor Road.

Eight black bin liners were filled with rubbish.

The projects were arranged in response to a member of the congregation approaching the Meltham Town Council last month to offer help in the local community.

The Friends of the Meltham Greenway had been seeking help in brightening up the area. The litter pick and planting were arranged as a result.
