It was all going so well ... until they came across a couple of parked cars.

Kirklees workmen were putting down double yellow lines on Savile Street in Milnsbridge to stop parking on the street.

But they were faced with something of a dilemma when they came across two parked cars.

They managed to get one shifted and then had to stop their painting and then continue it after the other.

It means there was a parking spot right amid the double yellow lines for the weekend ... but it won’t be there for long.

Parked car interrupts painting of double yellow lines in Savile Street, Milnsbridge, Huddersfield.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: “We placed No Parking Cones along this length of Savile Street overnight on Wednesday. However, when the team turned up to lay the double yellow lines the cones had been moved and two vehicles were parked here. The owner of one of the vehicles was successfully traced and they moved their vehicle but unfortunately it was not possible to trace the owner of the second.

“The team lined as much of the road as possible while avoiding getting paint on the parked car. We placed No Parking Cones out again on Sunday night and as long as there are no obstructions and the weather permits the lining will be completed today.”
