THE mother of former Examiner journalist Adrian Sudbury is to launch a pilot project in Bristol, continuing his campaign to raise awareness of bone marrow donation.

Kay Sudbury will be at Cotham School in Bristol today to promote the Register And Be A Lifesaver pilot scheme.

Adrian, 27, died of leukeamia last August and used his final months to campaign for better awareness about bone marrow, blood and organ donation – especially in colleges and sixth forms.

This resulted in Government and private funding being granted for the Register And Be A Lifesaver pilot, run by the Anthony Nolan Trust and NHS Blood and Transplant.

Under the pilot, volunteers have been trained and are already giving talks about donation in colleges in South Yorkshire.

Kay will give a talk to students along with Bedminster man David Gate, whose daughter Yvette, 15 needs a bone marrow transplant for aplastic anaemia and is struggling to find a donor because of her African-Caribbean background.
