A MOTHER and her baby boy were rescued from a fire overnight.

The woman was in the kitchen trying to fight the smoke when fire crews arrived and the 28-year-old and her five-month-old son were taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital.
The incident happened at a flat on Arncliffe Crescent, Rastrick at 1.30am.
Firefighters Jason Rhodes, of Elland fire station, said: “It was a ground floor flat with a woman and young baby inside.
“The neighbour told us the mother lived with the five-month-old so we got in there as quickly as possible to get them out.
“The mother was semi-conscious to the point of fresh air and both of them were taken to hospital.”
The kitchen was badly smoke damaged as a result of the fire.
Three firefighters wearing  breathing apparatus entered the house to rescue mother and son and one hose reel used.  Three fire appliances from Brighouse, Elland and Huddersfield attended.
