A MUM and daughter are leaving behind home luxuries to trek up the Himalayas for charity.

Pamela and Jeannette Wiper, of Fenay Bridge, will do the five day ‘Girls get Tough’ climb for charity Wellbeing of Women.

Jeannette, 24, said: “I was spurred on to do it after watching the celebrity Red Nose Day Kilimanjaro climb.

“The charity we chose raises money for reproductive and gynaecological health. I told my mum I wanted to do it and she was up for the challenge.”

Jeannette told the Examiner she and her 51-year-old mum have already started training for next year with regular Castle Hill walks.

They also plan to walk up Mount Snowdon for practice.

Jeannette, a former King James School pupil, said: “We’ll be tackling many challenges on the actual trek as we’ll need to walk on ridges and we are both scared of heights.

“We’ll also have to sleep outside which neither of us has done before. I’m quite a girly-girl and I like getting dressed up and going out with my friends.

“I think it’ll be really challenging, but we will definitely cope with it because the adrenaline will make us do it.”

Jeannette and Pamela need to raise £7,000 altogether for the trip.
