A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in Bradley will survive his injuries, police have said.

The 36-year-old biker from Mirfield was struck during a collision between his Aprillia bike and a blue Renault Megane the junction of Bradley Road and Upper Quarry Road, Huddersfield at 5.45pm on Thursday.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed by police shortly after the accident and remained close for at least two hours afterwards while police accident investigation experts worked at the scene.

A woman, who did not wish to be named, said: “I was walking home and saw the motorbike in the road. It was pretty mashed up, so was the car. There was a lot of blood on the road.

“I didn’t really want to look. The whole scene was an absolute mess. Police were on the scene and they had closed the road.

“I hope the man is okay. It looked really serious.

“The bike had tried to overtake and ended up tail-ending the car.”

Traffic was diverted along Oak Road causing huge queues for commuters.

Police confirmed an investigation is now ongoing to establish the cause of the collision.
