No-one likes a road hog – especially when it closes the M62 at rush hour while being chased down by police!

This little piggy caused huge delays for people all the way home after escaping from a moving vehicle and trotting onto the motorway causing tailbacks between Wakefield and Huddersfield last night (Tuesday).

The seven-week-old piglet was spotted on the motorway near junction 28 for Tingley, resulting in an hour-long police hunt to catch it while the motorway was closed in both directions.

The piglet was first spotted at around 7.40pm, with traffic grinding to a halt for an hour. Tailbacks were reportedly more than three miles long on the eastbound carriage, and nearly two miles heading west.

West Yorkshire Police ’s dogs unit aided in the rescue of the pig, which has now been safely returned to its owner.

“In the words of Arthur Hoggett...that’ll do pig, that’ll do.”
