A STUDENT was grabbed from behind near Huddersfield University’s campus.

The 19-year-old woman was walking along St Paul’s Street at about 8pm on Wednesday when a man grabbed her and demanded cash.

The student screamed loudly and struggled with the man, who ran off empty-handed.

She was then helped by a security guard who arrived on the scene.

The attacker made off towards a cobbled road near the canal.

He is described as white, aged 20 to 25, of medium build and about 5ft 9in tall.

He had short, dark, thick hair, a pale skin and bags under his eyes.

He was unkempt and wearing a dirty white baseball cap with a black logo and a white zip-up tracksuit top.

Anyone with any information is asked to phone police on 0845 6060606.
