A WOMAN and her son have been dealt with by police after a linesman was knocked out at a junior soccer match.
The 40-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son were arrested on suspicion of assault after a 51-year-old linesman ended up in hospital with head injuries.
The incident was at the Hartshead versus Shelley Under 13 game on Sunday October 7.
The match at the School Lane pitch in Hartshead was abandoned .
The injured man – who had been unconscious – was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital by paramedics for treatment.
The mum and son – who were with Hartshead – admitted the offence after answering their police bail on Saturday.
The woman was given a police caution and her son was given a reprimand.
