A MUSEUM is inviting children to take their grandparents to a history activity day.
Dewsbury Museum is developing its local history gallery and wants residents of all ages to get involved.
An event at Crow Nest Park on Sunday will collate people’s stories for the Discovering Dewsbury exhibition.
Already signed-up is grandmother-of-three Val Broom, who often visits the museum with her grandchildren – Louis, three, Tilly, four, and 14-year-old Joel.
She said: “The novel idea of getting young people to bring along older members of the family means they can discover it and the museum’s other displays together.”
People are being asked to hunt out objects from their family past – it could be a piece of jewellery, a medal or an old toy.
The children will draw pictures of the items and their grandparents will tell the stories that go with them.
The event takes place from 1pm to 4pm. There is no charge for admission or activities.
