HUDDERSFIELD Music Centre reached an historic milestone at this year's annual concert.

The organisation, which provides musical education, played to a packed Town Hall when it organised a 60th anniversary concert.

The show featured school-age children from across the district.

The concert's guest of honour was Kirklees Mayor Clr Margaret Fearnley.

As well as performances, annual awards for outstanding contribution to music were presented to students of Music Centre classes.

Simon Yates, head of the Music Centre, based in Northumberland Street, said: "There were some great performances.

"The Music Centre is valuable because it not only helps the children with their music, but is also very social and helps them make new friends."
