SHOPPERS at a Huddersfield supermarket unravelled the mystery of the length of a giant scarf.
The length of the hand-knitted scarf had been a secret until Sunday - when it was finally unravelled in the car park of Morrison's store on Penistone Road, Waterloo.
The rolled-up neck warmer had been on show at the supermarket all weekend and people had been paying to guess its length.
The winner was Mrs C Armitage, of Lepton, who received £100 for her correct guess of 1,260ft.
Donations totalling £1,200 were collected and will be divided between Crossroads, a charity which supports carers, and the Bridgewood Trust, which offers residential and day services for people with learning disabilities.
The scarf was created by Philip Bampton, 39, who lives in a Bridgewood Trust home in Halifax.
It took him several months to knit the scarf.
