Holmfirth's hills are a daunting challenge for any cyclist.

Just ask the Tour de France stars, who drew massive crowds as they ascended Holme Moss in the 2014 Grand Depart, or Olympic champion Ed Clancy who honed his skills on some tough terrain across the Holme Valley.

That’s why this particular cyclist amazed people at the weekend.

He was riding his unicycle up a very steep hill from Holmfirth - and then turned into an even steeper lane.

The feat was captured by visitor Steve Copplestone, who was visiting the area from Liverpool.

Watch:

Steve, who managed to get photos of the on-wheeled wonder, said: “I drove my daughter to Holmfirth, dropping down into the town from the Penistone direction.

“On the way down I passed this cyclist going up On the way out I caught him up again about one and half miles further up the hill. He eventually turned off onto a steeper climb.

“Not sure if you agree but a tribute photo in his local paper would not go amiss.

“I do not live in Yorkshire, you may tell me this a common mode of transport”.

We know it’s not so we’d love to find out who the star on one wheel really is.
