A HUDDERSFIELD supermarket has won two national awards.
Staff at Asda's store in Brackenhall were awarded two company Golden Bear Awards for their contribution to the local community.
They were one of 10 Asda stores in the UK which won bears and £500 each for their fundraising and services to the community over the last year.
The finalists will battle it out for the top place at Asda House in Leeds on April 24.
The second bear and £500 was for being the best in the UK for its No More Bullying campaign.
The Huddersfield campaign, which took place last spring, involved officials from the NSPCC and the National Children's Centre. Workshops were held in schools and in the store.
Judith Alderman, Asda's events manager, said one cheque was going to Longley Special School's appeal to build an outdoor play space. The other £500 would be given to Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton.
"Hopefully, we will win the final and another £500. We have to dress two 7ft boards with Examiner cuttings, pictures and letters about our campaigns," she added.
