A man has appeared in court after assaulting his twin brother.

Neil Bridges pleaded guilty to the attack on Lee Bridges at his home on June 8.

Kirklees magistrates heard that the 37-year-old had been binge drinking before punching his brother.

Lee was in the garden of his home in Cannon Grove, Heckmondwike, when he saw his brother coming down the road.

He jumped over the garden fence and punched Lee in the face several times.

The incident was witnessed by a neighbour and reported to police.

Mark Mangano, mitigating, said that his client had gone to ask about a sick relative who has since died.

He told magistrates that Lee, who had been drinking heavily, was pushed by his brother and he overreacted by hitting him.

Bridges was involved in another fight on his way to see his brother and this left him with a swollen lip and bruising.

Mr Mangano said that Bridges, of Holywell Lane in Heckmondwike, needed help addressing his problems.

Magistrates ordered a full report and adjourned sentencing until July 24.

In the meantime Bridges is banned from contacting his brother.
