Another bid to build on land at Lindley Moor has been made.

Agents acting for a chartered surveyors are seeking planning consent for employment uses on 9,986sqm of land bounded by Lindley Moor Road, Weatherhill Road and Crosland Road .

It covers a small area of land which is currently grazing land in three fields from Lindley Moor Road to houses off Alderstone Rise.

Surveyors Michael Steel and Co want planning permission for an outline application – which is an agreement in principle to employment use at the site.

They believe the land is capable of accommodating one large building or a number of smaller buildings.

The application states: “There will be a positive effect as a result of the development. It will provide employment in the locality and beyond.”

Consent is sought for B1 use, which in planning terms is offices and light industry, B2 use which is general industry and B8 use which is storage or distribution.

No indication is given about who may be interested in the site, but the Examiner has already revealed that Cummins Turbo Technologies have shown an interest in nearby land at Lindley Moor.

Plans for the area have been controversial since first mooted – large parts of the land was allocated for housing, which is currently being built, and employment use. A data campus was approved but it has never been built and other uses are sought for that site.

The latest application is open to public comments via Kirklees Council until March 2.
