A new store creating 45 jobs is set to open.
B&M Retail will open the doors to its new store at the Bailiff Bridge retail development, Brighouse, on Friday, October 21.
The Bradford Road store will stock a wide range of branded and own-label products including toys, food and drink, pet products and health and beauty items. It will also boast an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range, homeware collections, electricals and a garden centre.
The store is recruiting to fill a number of full and part-time vacancies for permanent and temporary staff. Roles range from sales assistants to floor manager and cleaners.
It is planned to invite a local dignitary and representatives of a local charity chosen by the store team to the opening event.
A spokesman for the retailer said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in a few weeks.”
B&M was formed in 1978 and opened its first store in Blackpool. Billed as one of the UK’s leading variety retailers, it now has more than 500 stores employing some 22,500 people handling about 3m customer transactions each week.
It’s latest trading update shows the Liverpool-based company lifted total revenue by 1.5% to £554.8m during the 13 weeks to June, 2016. It opened 12 new stores in the UK and five in Germany during the period.
The Brighouse store is one of 50 new stores planned for the UK and 19 planned in Germany – where it trades under the JA Woll name – during the current financial year.
The company said it was on course to meet profit expectations for the full year.
The retailer already has stores at the Ringway Centre in Huddersfield, Wilton Street in Dewsbury, Huddersfield Road in Elland and at the Pennine Shopping Centre and on Stoney Road in Halifax.
B&M Retail is part of B&M European Value Retail S.A, based in Luxembourg.
